Beth Brillinger, CCMEP, Joins CME Outfitters as Director of Accreditation

New Director brings wealth of experience and unique perspective to position where priorities include maintaining multiple accreditations and developing educational excellence with a focus on delivering and communicating valuable outcomes.

February 8, 2011

CME Outfitters, LLC, (CMEO) an award-winning accredited provider of multidisciplinary continuing education (CE), is pleased to announce that Beth Brillinger, CCMEP, has joined CME Outfitters as Director of Accreditation. Ms. Brillinger has 15 years of extensive experience in the independent medical education industry, and most recently as Vice President, Educational Strategy and Development, at the Discovery Institute of Medical Education (DIME).

Beth began her career in continuing medical education at hospital and academic institutions Abington Memorial Hospital and Jefferson Medical College, where she was responsible for maintaining accreditation, developing CME-certified educational programming and achieving grant funding. In 2001, Beth joined a medical education company, Vox Medica, in their accredited provider division, the Institute for Continuing Medical Education, where she represented the accredited provider perspective to the commercial supporter and provided account management. Specific accomplishments include management of accreditation aspects of a large, multi-component educational initiative supported by one grantor as well as representing many Vox Medica teams on smaller grants. In early 2005, Beth transitioned to the FCG Institute for Continuing Education, a Sudler and Hennessey company, where she was responsible for a large, multi-component educational activity called APOLLO (http://www.apollolipids.org) which included online offerings, live meetings, webcasts, newsletters, slide sets, etc. She managed a team of individuals from five different medical education companies within and external to Sudler and Hennessey to achieve the educational programming supported by one grantor on various cardiovascular topics. In 2006, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, the grantor for APOLLO, hired Beth as a Senior Manager in their Medical Education Grants Office. Beth brought the accredited provider perspective to the AstraZeneca team, a unique point-of-view not previously represented. She was responsible for the management and monitoring of educational programs that supported established educational imperatives in the cardiovascular arena. Other accomplishments while at AstraZeneca were leading the team and the successful launch of the Independent Medical Education Grants report, allowing transparency of grant payment information to be reported to the public. A particular interest to Beth throughout her career has always been sharing valuable educational outcomes data to maintain and demonstrate the value of independent medical education activities.

Beth has presented at numerous speaking engagements, including several presentations for the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education (ACME), Medical Education Forum, National Task Force on CME Provider and Industry Collaboration, CBI's Annual Forum on Educational Grants, and ExL Pharma's Pharmaceutical Funded CME conference. Beth achieved her Certified CME Professional (CCMEP) certification and was also recognized by the ACME as a Distinguished Member.

Jan Perez, Managing Partner at CME Outfitters, stated: "Beth brings a wealth of experience from her time with non-profit and for-profit accredited medical education providers as well as a unique perspective from the pharmaceutical grantor point of view. Her enthusiasm and passion for identifying, reporting, and sharing meaningful educational outcomes from the activities offered through CME Outfitters serve to energize the CMEO team and benefit the independent medical education community."

Beth will lead the CME Outfitters Accreditation Department and work to maintain multiple accreditations and develop educational excellence with a focus on delivering and communicating valuable outcomes.
