2015 Chair Summit Faculty,

Statement of Need

The 8th Annual Chair Summit is a unique opportunity for psychiatrists, neurologists, and other health care providers in the neuroscience community to interact with Chairpersons from the leading Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology in US academic centers. These are the scientists, teachers, and mentors who have made the seminal discoveries and changed the landscape of the neurosciences.

At the Chair Summit, attendees do not simply attend lectures; they actively participate with world-renowned faculty in the learning process. Throughout the interactive plenary addresses, clinical case challenges, small-group breakouts, and chart review sessions, the faculty members share their first-hand knowledge about leading-edge science, best practices, and emerging treatment approaches. Attendees tell CME Outfitters that, after attending the Chair Summit, they return to their practices to apply key clinical lessons with a renewed energy and ability to translate evidence to clinical practice.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this CE activity, participants should be able to:

  • Integrate evidence-based best care into everyday clinical practice, including the latest measurement- and outcomes-based clinical research and data on psychiatric and neurologic disorders.
  • Translate current and emerging scientific evidence into clinical practice and individualized care decisions for psychiatric and neurologic disorders.
  • Actively participate in open, unfiltered discussions with experts, interdisciplinary team members, and colleagues regarding the challenges in daily clinical practice so that new insights can be applied to improve patient care.

The following learning objectives pertain only to those requesting CNE or CPE credit:

  • Identify validated questionnaires used to assess symptoms of psychiatric and neurologic disorders.
  • Describe best practices for diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric and neurologic disorders based on review of high-level evidence and discussions with clinical experts and colleagues.

Target Audience

Physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, certified case managers, social workers, and other nonphysician health care professionals with an interest in psychiatry, neurology, and the neurosciences.
