Statement of Need

Despite the immense burden that symptoms of menopause create for women in mid-life, highly effective hormone therapy (HT) for menopausal symptoms is underutilized by the medical community. Recent publication of updated guidelines and position statements has led to an urgent need to educate clinicians about the role of HT in supporting symptomatic women through the transition of menopause and reducing the stigma around both the symptoms and their treatment. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the value of telehealth, which is likely to outlast the pandemic. Many clinicians have limited training, experience, and confidence with this modality, creating a need for education on how best to provide postmenopausal care via telehealth.

This CME Outfitters BriefCase will utilize patient cases to illustrate how clinicians can optimize technology for the care of postmenopausal women, with special focus on current evidence-based guidance on the risks and benefits of HT and implementing best practices for telehealth consultations with postmenopausal patients.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this CE activity, participants should be able to:

  • Apply current evidence-based guidance on benefits and risks of HT to counseling and treatment decisions for postmenopausal patients.
  • Implement best practices for telehealth consultations with postmenopausal patients.

The following learning objectives pertain only to those requesting CNE or CPE credit:

  • Explain current evidence-based guidance on benefits and risks of HT to counseling and treatment decisions for postmenopausal patients.
  • Describe best practices for telehealth consultations with postmenopausal patients.
