Statement of Need

Lupus is a prototypic autoimmune disease with highly heterogeneous manifestations and variable disease activity in which no two cases are alike. Differences can be caused by genetics and epigenetics, pathogenetic mechanisms, demographics, ethnicity and race, as well as socioeconomic factors, and disease heterogeneity can cause challenges with development and selection of therapeutics, perfection of clinical trial designs, and prognostication.

The first episode of this CMEOCast podcast series on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) focuses on the heterogeneity of lupus, including the multiple immune pathways that are active in it and how knowledge of immunopathogenesis has informed drug development.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this CE activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify immune pathways in SLE that inform drug development.

Financial Support

Supported by an educational grant from AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals

Target Audience

Rheumatologists, dermatologists, primary care physicians, PAs, nurse practitioners, nurses, and pharmacists
